Board of Education/Principal’s Report
March, 2008
The dishwasher has been paid for through school funds. The Women’s Guild gave $3000 for the dishwasher and replaced money taken from Kinderfest.
The final step in our re-accreditation is the Visit Team – coming on April 21 & 22. All materials are ready for their visit. There will be a dinner on the 21st and board members are requested to attend. School will close early (2:30) on the 22nd so the Visit Team can meet with the faculty.
The Board is studying the possibility of a shared time teacher supplied by East Detroit Public School in the areas of PE and Art. Mr. Kutz has met with the superintendent, and more discussions will take place.
The Open Forum for parents will be next month, April 14, at 6PM.
The Board will schedule meetings with faculty on April 15, beginning at 6:30PM
The Community Open House was successful with 14 families attending.
A Public Relations committee composed of John Kutz, Kim Moore, Darsi Fruhner, and Karen Roedel prepared newspaper adds for the Open House. They are planning a mailing to the community for another Open House in June. ECC and School will share the cost.
Enrollment and staffing was discussed. The Board will contact existing families who have not re-enrolled following the March 15 deadline.
We should have the results of the Baker Survey next meeting.
The Board will continue to encourage families to be faithful in the church attendance and contributions.
Lutheran Schools Week activities were enjoyed – especially the Academic Fair and STARS Night. Board members in attendance felt it was one of the best STARS Night in recent years.
The Spring Pizza Sale is complete. Funds go to our technology program.
Both the Band and Choir received EXCELLENT ratings at the recent Music Festival.
