St. Peter’s Lutheran School

Board of Education/Principal’s Report

March, 2008

  • The dishwasher has been paid for through school funds. The Women’s Guild gave $3000 for the dishwasher and replaced money taken from Kinderfest.

  • The final step in our re-accreditation is the Visit Team – coming on April 21 & 22. All materials are ready for their visit. There will be a dinner on the 21st and board members are requested to attend. School will close early (2:30) on the 22nd so the Visit Team can meet with the faculty.

  • The Board is studying the possibility of a shared time teacher supplied by East Detroit Public School in the areas of PE and Art. Mr. Kutz has met with the superintendent, and more discussions will take place.

  • The Open Forum for parents will be next month, April 14, at 6PM.

  • The Board will schedule meetings with faculty on April 15, beginning at 6:30PM

  • The Community Open House was successful with 14 families attending.

  • A Public Relations committee composed of John Kutz, Kim Moore, Darsi Fruhner, and Karen Roedel prepared newspaper adds for the Open House. They are planning a mailing to the community for another Open House in June. ECC and School will share the cost.

  • Enrollment and staffing was discussed. The Board will contact existing families who have not re-enrolled following the March 15 deadline.

  • We should have the results of the Baker Survey next meeting.

  • The Board will continue to encourage families to be faithful in the church attendance and contributions.

  • Lutheran Schools Week activities were enjoyed – especially the Academic Fair and STARS Night. Board members in attendance felt it was one of the best STARS Night in recent years.

  • The Spring Pizza Sale is complete. Funds go to our technology program.

  • Both the Band and Choir received EXCELLENT ratings at the recent Music Festival.
