ST. PETER’S LUTHERAN COUGAR CONNECTION

ENROLLMENT 2012-2013

Re-enrollment for the 2012-13 school year will officially begin on Sunday, February 26, 2012.   The first step in re-enrollment is attendance at the next “State of the School” address. One or both parents of each students must attend one of these meetings to begin the re-enrollment process. Two meeting s will be offered but attendance is only required at one. The first meeting will be held on Sunday, February 26 at 6PM; the second meeting is Monday, February 27 at 6PM. If you are unable to make either meeting, you will need to make an appointment to meet privately with Mrs. Thompson. Childcare will be provided at both meetings. Please contact the school office to reserve a spot for your children if child care is desired.

            The State of the School address is designed to communicate changes for next year, tuition rates, and the overall vision for the school. Added details will be coming soon. 

S.T.A.R.S.NIGHT CHANGED

S.T.A.R.S. Night will still occur, but will be modified. On Friday, March 9, at the conclusion of Lutheran Schools Week, we will have a student talent show at 7PM . . The classrooms will not be open. This will simply be a fun talent show event. 

LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK 

March 4-9th is Lutheran Schools Week! This year’s theme is “Be His Hands”. To begin the celebration, the entire school will be singing in the 11AM worship service on Sunday, March 4. Please make plans to be in attendance. We will also be having our community Open House on that day from 12:30-3PM. Both the ECC and the school will be open for visitors. Please encourage your friends and neighbors who may be interested in attending  St. Peter’s to join us.  Watch for our next Cougar Connection to include a complete listing of Lutheran Schools Week activities  including special dress days and events.

SCHOOL DOORS LOCKED

The school doors in the gym corridor leading into the school will be locked at 4PM. Please make sure that your children have everything from their desk and locker needed for after school sporting events. The school portion of the building will be locked for security and supervision reasons. 

NO SCHOOL FEBRUARY 24

There will be no school on Friday, February 24. Our faculty will be traveling to Frankenmuth for a professional development day relating to technology in the classroom.

BOX TOPS WINNING CLASSROOM

Congratulations to our 6th grade class for turning in the most box tops for the month of January.  Charlie Cougar will be happy to join Mrs. Johnson’s class for the  month! 

NEW POLICY

Any adult entering the building  during the school day MUST sign in at the school office.  If  you are dropping off items to your children, you must present yourself to the office first. Please do not go directly to your child’s classroom or locker. Should you be taking your children out of the school for early dismissal, you must sign them out in the school office. Thanks for your cooperation! 

BURGER KING NIGHT

Our next Burger King Night is Tuesday, February 21. Make plans to visit the Burger King at Harper & Stephens between the hours of 4-8PM. St. Peter’s receives 20% of the profits from the receipts placed in the box marked St. Peter’s.

NEW! ALL SCHOOL SHOWCASE NIGHT! 

Friday, March 30, the students of St. Peter’s will be hosting a Showcase Night. The evening will begin at 6PM with a Young Authors Exposition. All students of St. Peter’s will author no fewer than two writing projects. These, along with student art work and class projects, will be on display in the classrooms and throughout the building. At 7PM everyone will meet in the gym for a concert. All choirs will sing, including our Kindergarten class. The Beginning and Advancing Band will perform, as well as the Handbell Choir. Please mark your calendars as we showcase what the students are learning here at St. Peter’s. Family and friends are welcome! 

EDUCATION BANQUET

Mark your calendar: On Tuesday, May 1 at 6PM, we will be hosting our first annual Education Banquet . We will be having a catered dinner with awards to follow. The congregation of St. Peter’s will be voting for the “Volunteer of the Year”, the faculty and staff will  vote on the “Colleague in Christ”, and Mrs. Thompson will select the “Educator of the Year”.  Ticket prices for the dinner will be $15 per person  This is a semi-formal event. More details will follow soon! 

SUNDAY BASKETBALL CLINIC

Thank you to all the parents that have been bringing kids to the Sunday basketball clinics. We have had a regular attendance of about 20 kids each Sunday. Anyone is welcome from 3rd-8th grade. Please join us! The clinics currently run  from 3-4:30pm every Sunday. We are working on a lot of basic skills with the kids and keeping it a very fun environment for them!

PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO CLINIC THIS COMING SUNDAY FEBRUARY 12TH DUE TO WINTER BREAK. We will get back at it on Sunday Feb 19th at 3pm.
