NEWS AND NOTES

ST. PETER'S LUTHERAN SCHOOL - NEW BEGINNINGS & BLESSED TRADITIONS

With joy and excitement, and with great thanksgiving to God, St. Peter's Lutheran School begins another year of sharing the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to the children and families of our congregation and community.

There is no better school for a child to attend than a Lutheran School - a school that is filled with God’s grace, mercy, and love, and shared by caring, dedicated, Christ-centered teachers and staff.

School begins on Monday, August 30.  We will have an opening worship service beginning at 11:00 am, and school will close following that service, at approximately 11:45am. Everyone is invited to attend that service as we thank God for another year of His grace and blessing.

MISSION STATEMENT

The difference is clear.  Public and charter schools cannot offer your child a Christ-centered education. When Biblical values are at the core of the curriculum and are modeled by certified, dedicated Lutheran teachers, there is a measurable impact on the spiritual, academic, social, and esthetic areas of each child.

The Mission of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and School to touch the hearts and lives of people through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

WHAT'S NEW IN 2010/2011?

  • Math - Although we are continuing with the same publisher, we have new textbooks in this area.
  • Confirmation instruction will be increased with our pastors teaching in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Both 7th and 8th grade students will be confirmed this year.
  • Upgraded technology program as we continue to add new equipment and software.
  • We expect to see some new teachers for our Shared Time program from South Lake Schools. They will continue to teach the non-core subjects of Spanish, physical education, music, and technology.

The food's delicious and there is a large play area for the kids. St. Peter's receives 20% of the receipts that are dropped in our collection box between the hours of 4-8PM. First Burger King Night - September 21st - See You There!

"LET'S GET SMART" FUNDRAISER

This year we will complete our plan to go "High Tech" in all of our classrooms with the purchase of Mimio Board Technology. Last year, we were able to put Mimio in grades 8,7,2, and 1. Ask those teachers or students how mimio added to daily instruction. Mimio products make it easy to create and present engaging lessons in the classroom by turning standard whiteboards into fully interactive ones. We plan to fund this project through a Walk-a Thon which will take place on Friday, October 8th. Students will take pledges from family and friends for their walking and all the money raised will go to the purchase of Mimio Technology for the classrooms. This fundraiser will take the place of the Morley Candy Sale. More details to follow.

FAST DIRECT SYSTEM

We are excited to have the Fast Direct School Management system. This is a powerful, web-based system that gives parents the ability to access a wealth of information about your children, your financial record, assignments, and much more through the internet. Sign up is quick and easy - contact the school office if you need assistance
