Children’s Christmas Eve Worship

        “Ring Out the Good News!”  is the title of St. Peter’s Children’s Worship Service on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24.  Students in grades 1-8 will have the opportunity to tell the Christmas story in word and song as they lead the congregation in worship. The service will begin at 3:00 P.M. Children should be in their classrooms 20 minutes prior to the beginning of the service. All students in our school are expected to attend. 

 

Doughnuts for Dads

            Dads, join us for breakfast on Tuesday, December 2, from 7:00-8:15 AM. in our middle basement.  Our P.T.L. will have doughnuts, coffee, and juice ready and waiting for you and your child(ren).  This is a great way to start the day!

 

Advent Concert

            Sunday, December 6 will be a special afternoon at St. Peter’s.  It is the date of our annual Advent Concert, featuring our choirs, bands, and hand bell ensembles.  The concert begins at 4:00 PM.  Please join us for this holiday tradition.

 

Preschool & Kindergarten Program

            On Sunday, December 13 our preschool and kindergarten will present their annual Christmas Worship Service beginning at 2:00PM.  The title of the Program is “God’s Promises!”

 

 

 

Christmas Classroom Parties 

            Classroom parties will take place for students in grades K-8 on Tuesday, December 22, following the final practice for our Children’s Christmas Eve Service.  There will be a gift exchange among the students as well as games and special treats.  Your child’s teacher will share more details with you.  School will close at NOON on the 22nd.

 

Christmas Vacation

            It is our prayer that you and your family will have a wonderful holiday season as we rejoice and celebrate God’s great gift of love, Jesus Christ.  School will resume on Monday, Januray 4.  Please review the January calendar so your children are ready for all the coming events and activities.

 

Burger King Night

            Our monthly Burger King night which is located at Harper & Stephens, will be Tuesday, December 15 and January 19th.  St. Peter’s receives 20% of the receipts that are dropped in our collection box between the hours of 4-8PM.  It is a fun night for the entire family and a great way to raise funds for our school.  We hope to see you at Burger King .

 

Peewee and Junior Basketball

            The exciting Peewee and Junior Basketball season is quickly approaching and we are in need of players and coaches. Registration forms will be sent home with students in early December.  Team are selected and practices begin in January, games in February and March, and a Pizza/Awards night in late March.   This is a great way to earn service hours and have fun with the children. 

 

Basketball Season Continues

            Our 5th and 6th grade basketball programs are coming to an end in December, and the 7th and 8th grades will begin their basketball seasons in January.  Come out and cheer for the Cougars.  Also, support the athletic program by purchasing items from our refreshment area.

 

School Closing Reminder

            It is time to think about St. Peter’s School closing information.  In the event school is closed due to inclement weather, please watch the local T.V. stations.  There are many St. Peter’s schools, so listen for St. Peter’s, Eastpointe.  Our ECC will have child care available on “Snow Days”, but you must call ahead so they can have adequate staffing.

 

P.T.L. Market Day

            Once a month you have the opportunity to place an order through our Market Day Food Program.  Order forms are attached to the Cougar Connection and also available in the school office.  Simply fill out the order form and place it in the Market Day box located on the first floor main hallway.  Watch the school calendar for both order and delivery dates.

 

Spelling Bee

Our annual school spelling bee will be held on Thursday, January 7th, beginning at 1:30PM.  This event involves students in grades 5 through 8 who successfully competed in classroom bees. All of the school children attend this event and parents are invited.

 

Magazine Sale

The annual Magazine Sale begins on Monday, January 11th.   This is one of the most exciting events of the year with many individual prizes as well as classroom competitions.  Your child will receive a letter and a sales packet on the 11th.  Thanks for your support of this important sale!!

 

Martin Luther King Holiday

This year there will be no school on Monday, January 18, as our country commemorates the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King.  We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend and makes some family memories

 

Progress Reports

Your child will be bringing home their 2nd quarter progress reports on Friday, January 29. You may see them using Fast Direct beginning Wednesday, January 27. Attached to the progress report will be a form for conferences.  Conferences are optional at the 2nd quarter meaning that if your child’s teacher desires a conference, he/she will indicate that on the form.  If the teacher does not indicate a conference but you desire to have one, simply mark that on the form and return it to your child’s teacher the following school day. 

 

Student Scholarship Fund Pasta Dinner

            LFA #57, the organization located at the north end of our parking lot, is hosting a Pasta Dinner on Tuesday, January 26 from 4:30 – 7:00 PM, to benefit their student scholarship fund.  The cost:  Adults-$7; Senior-$6; Child (5-12)-$3; Child under 5-FREE, Family-$25(Immediate family members only). The LFA Student Scholarship Fund provides money for our students that attend a Lutheran High School.

           

Boaters Safety Class

Our 7th grade students will be taking a Boaters Safety Class directed by the Marine Division of the Macomb County Sheriffs Department.  The class will be held Tuesday through Friday, January 19-22, for 1 hour each day.

 

Winter Break in February

            Please put the dates for our annual Winter Break, February 15th-19th, on your family calendar.  I hope you are able to use that time to make some family memories.
